Manti Canyon
This was ride number 28 of the 25th annual Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree. I met the guide and other riders at the city park in RIchfield and then headed over to Manti (45 miles). We then headed up the old Sheep Trail. Going up the Manti Sheep Trail gets a bit steep at times but is passable by all but beginners (though I wouldn't try it in snow or mud). About half way up we stopped for lunch. The sponsors of the ride brought a BBQ and made hamburgers and hot dogs. After lunch we had a skeet shooting contest.
We then continued up to the Skyline Drive which is one of the highest roads in America with the highest point at an elevation of 10, 897 feet. It had rained several days before this trip and the ride back down the backside of Six Mile Canyon was a lot of fun. The trail enters several areas that are completely covered in trees and had many deep mud holes. We had to navigate around the side of the trail which required several of us to stand on the low side of the trail and make sure we didn't lose anyone over the side. We all managed to make it through these muddy areas and the remainder of the ride was easier and quite pretty. This ride was 70 miles long and rated “Intermediate/Advanced” with some sections of trail that were steep and rough.
Overall this was a really fun trip. The way up provides great views and the way back had several sections that are limited to 50" or less. I rated this trip 4 stars and highly recommended it if you are in the RIchfield or Manti areas. I split my video in two parts with part 1 being mostly up to Skyline Drive and part 2 the return trip back to Manti. Check it out!
